Fun on two wheels: Cycling in the Graz region
In the region surrounding Graz, the Capital of Delight, ENJOYMENT is our top priority! There’s more than enough to keep you entertained here: breathtaking natural scenery, historic cultural monuments and modern art, stunning views and panoramas, secluded lakes for swimming, traditional specialities and modern Haute cuisine, freshly brewed beer and wine, long hiking trails and a varied network of cycle paths...
The popular Murradweg R2 is the main cycle route in the Graz region. It runs from the mountainous region of Graz in the north to the flat plains of the Graz basin in the south. There are also plenty of other interesting cycle routes to the left and right of the River Mur which often connect to the Murradweg and the city of Graz and can be combined with each other.
We have put together a brochure which describes some of our best cycling tours in detail – incl. information about the elevation, time needed, interesting features of the surrounding area, etc. These circular tours take you to the most interesting destinations and attractions around Graz (printed brochure available from the end of March 2021).

While the southern part of the region with its flat cycle paths is ideal for leisure riders, the scenic and hilly Hügelland area in the east is perfect for cyclists looking for more of a challenge. A leisurely ride along the Murradweg is a great way to discover the cultural treasures of the Graz region and smaller idyllic villages, like Frohnleiten, at your own pace. You can find more challenging routes with greater elevation changes in the mountainous area in the north of the region – the best way to discover these is by e-bike.
